TPBC-Rev John Cheong Bursary

Blessing the Community and
Touching Lives for our Lord Jesus Christ

In Memory of Rev John Cheong
Rev John Cheong was born in the year 1935 and called by the Lord into full-time service during the early years of his life. He studied at Chin Lien Bible Seminary for 3 years. At the seminary, he met Mrs Cheong and they were married in 1958.

In 1955, after his graduation, he started his ministry with the Christian National Evangelism Commission (C.N.E.C) S.E.A. Rev and Mrs Cheong had been instrumental to the founding of Toa Payoh Bible Church (currently known as The People’s Bible Church or TPBC) at Kim Keat area in the 1970s and continued to serve the Lord until 2001 due to failing health. He was called home by the Lord on 31 Dec 2008.

The sacrifices, struggles and hard work of Rev John Cheong in reaching out to the people at Kim Keat and in helping to plant 2 churches, TPBC and LCC, is an example and inspiration to all of us. He knew full well the feelings of every parent who has children and who has to struggle financially to put them through school.

The Bursary Fund is set up so that TPBC can continue the legacy of Rev and Mrs Cheong to reach out and help the community in Singapore, especially those families who are in need of financial support.
